FC 27 Clubs Archetypes, Masteries and Amps

Archetypes are still the base of a Virtual Pro in EA SPORTS FC 27, but almost everything around them has changed. They are all unlocked from the start, resetting one costs nothing, individual attributes can be edited without a full reset, and two new systems — Masteries and Amps — sit on top of the archetype you choose.

That combination flips how building works. In FC 26 the expensive decision was which archetypes to unlock; in FC 27 the expensive decision is gone, and what is left is knowing which build is actually better. This page covers what EA has confirmed, and what carries over from FC 26 knowledge.

Plan your Virtual Pro in the free builder

Every archetype is unlocked from day one

EA's Grounds and Clubs Deep Dive states that "all Archetypes are now unlocked by default, giving you immediate access to any Archetype". That removes the FC 26 model, where you started with one archetype and paid for the other twelve with Clubs Coins, FC Points or Archetype Unlock items earned as rewards.

For a new player this collapses the onboarding wall: you can try a Finisher, a Maestro and a Sweeper Keeper on the same evening. For an experienced player it removes the sunk cost that used to lock people into a build they had stopped enjoying.

Free resets and per-attribute edits

EA also confirms that "Archetype resets no longer cost Coins or a reset consumable", and that you can adjust single attributes rather than resetting a whole build. Changes can be made from the in-world menu, from The Clubhouse, or from inside a Clubs or Rush lobby.

The practical effect is that a build stops being a commitment and becomes a setting. Tuning between matches — more Composure for one opponent, more Acceleration for another — becomes viable in a way it never was when a reset cost currency.

Masteries: permanent boosts across every build

Masteries are the new account-level layer. Hitting milestones unlocks "permanent Attribute boosts that carry across all of your builds". EA's worked example: reaching level 10 on Finisher grants +1 Finishing and +1 Composure on every archetype you use afterwards.

This rewards depth as well as breadth. Time spent grinding one archetype is no longer lost when you switch — it becomes a small permanent bonus everywhere. Over a season, the ordering of which archetypes you level first stops being cosmetic and starts being a plan.

Amps: four tiers, PlayStyles and Perks

Amps come in four tiers. Standard Amps at tiers 1 and 2 provide attribute boosts. Signature Amps at tiers 3 and 4 provide larger boosts plus PlayStyles, PlayStyles+ and Perks.

Because Signature Amps can carry PlayStyles, they change which builds are reachable rather than only how strong a build is. Two players on the same archetype with different Signature Amps are not playing the same character.

Consumables and AXP

Consumables grant Archetype XP, come in targeted variants, and have individual level caps. EA has added AXP multipliers explicitly to help newer players catch up with established ones.

With unlocks removed, AXP is what still gates progress — so the questions that mattered in FC 26 (which match types pay best, how role rating feeds AXP) remain the ones worth answering in FC 27.

What carries over from FC 26, and what to check at launch

The archetype names, attribute caps and PlayStyle slots from FC 26 are the sensible starting assumption, not a guarantee: EA has not published a full FC 27 archetype list with caps, and reports of renamed archetypes circulating before launch are not confirmed in EA's own notes.

We will rebuild the builder's archetype data against what FC 27 actually serves, starting from early access on 18 September, and say clearly on each page which season a build refers to. Until then, use the FC 26 builder for FC 26, and treat pre-launch "best FC 27 build" lists — including ours — as informed predictions rather than measurements.

FAQ

Are archetypes unlocked in FC 27 Clubs?

Yes. EA states that all archetypes are unlocked by default from the start of FC 27, removing the FC 26 system where twelve of the thirteen had to be bought with Clubs Coins, FC Points or unlock items.

Does resetting an archetype cost anything in FC 27?

No. EA confirms that archetype resets no longer cost Coins or a reset consumable, and that individual attributes can be adjusted without resetting the entire build.

What is the difference between Masteries and Amps?

Masteries are milestone rewards that grant permanent attribute boosts across all of your builds. Amps are equippable items in four tiers: Standard Amps boost attributes, while Signature Amps also grant PlayStyles, PlayStyles+ and Perks.

Are the 13 FC 26 archetypes the same in FC 27?

EA has not published a full FC 27 archetype list with attribute caps. Claims about renamed or replaced archetypes circulating before launch are not confirmed in EA's Pitch Notes. We will update the builder from live FC 27 data during early access.

What is the best archetype in FC 27?

Nobody can answer that from measurements yet — the game is not out. Because resets are free, the useful approach this year is to compare builds and switch, rather than commit to one at launch.
